Antares Investment Partners donate South End site to Stamford's Waterside School
Site to become home of new PK-5 facility

STAMFORD, CT - Antares Investment Partners, developer of the Harbor Point project in Stamford's South End, announced an agreement to donate 1.5 acres in the South End to Stamford's Waterside School. The property is within the company's Harbor Point redevelopment project.

The new site at Harbor Point will allow the Waterside School to construct a facility and expand its current enrollment of 100 students in grades K-5 to 200 students in grades PK-5. Additionally, the site and a contiguous piece of property can provide room for future expansion for the School in both scale and scope.

Waterside School is a most unique co-educational K-5 independent school whose mission is to provide children access to opportunities for educational and personal excellence regardless of any limitations in family income or circumstance.

"We are pleased to enable the Waterside School to pursue their continued growth and expansion," remarked James Cabrera, co-founder of Antares, "and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to include such an outstanding school in the Harbor Point project."

"The donation of property at Harbor Point is a wonderful gift to Waterside School, its students, and the entire City of Stamford," said Stamford Mayor Dannel P. Malloy. "We thank Antares for their generosity."

The Waterside School was conceived and founded by Konrad 'Chip' Kruger, former co-head of Greenwich Capital. The School, with visionary leadership, a socio-economically and culturally diverse student body, a talented and passionate teaching faculty, an involved parent body and the generous support of the greater community, is breaking new ground and proving what any child can accomplish and become if given the opportunity.

"Waterside has been interested in locating a site and building a permanent facility as impressive as its work since our very founding," said Duncan Edwards III, Waterside board chair and executive director. "The Antares site and the great kindness and vision that have made it available to us accommodate our desire to serve more students, to serve them better and to become a defining institution and a meaningful point of excellence in the redevelopment of Stamford's South End."

Students who live in the South End will be given priority to attend the school once a new facility is built.

Waterside has started the planning process for the new school building. The building will pair a cutting-edge learning environment with a sustainable site strategy and green building features to become a building which embodies many of the principles that the school itself promotes - leadership, social responsibility, global awareness and academic and personal excellence. Waterside officials expect to begin sharing the new plans with student families and the greater community in the coming months.

Waterside is a school funded primarily though contributions from individuals, foundations and corporations. Tuition payments are based on each Waterside family's ability to pay.
