Philanthropy & Community Relations

Antares believes strongly in giving back and being a responsible corporate citizen. We approach this challenge with the same discipline and strategy that we apply to all aspects of our business. By donating both time and money to a wide range of groups, foundations, and organizations dealing with education, youth, community, health and the environment, we demonstrate our dedication to the community. Quite simply, we feel our success is dependent on the success of the communities where we live and work. We’re proud to be associated with the following groups, foundations, and organizations.

CTE, Inc. The Community Action Agency for the Greater Stamford Area (www.ctecap.org)
The mission of CTE is to combat the basic causes of poverty in the Stamford, Darien, and Greenwich communities. Services and activities are made available to help reduce the physical, economic, and psychological barriers to self-sufficiency for low-income individuals and families.

Greenwich Family YMCA (www.gwymca.org)

JCC Memorial Scholarship Fund
The James C. Cabrera Memorial Scholarship is awarded every year to a member of the Greenwich High School football team in Greenwich, Connecticut. The Cabrera family selects, with recommendations from the coaches, a member of the team who best fits the attributes that made Mr. Cabrera such a revered person to his family and community. The award’s criteria were outlined in l997, the year of Mr. Cabrera's death. A golf tournament, The JCC Classic, is held at Greenwich Country Club and is hosted by members of the Cabrera family. The $5,000 scholarship, awarded at the Football Banquet held in December of each year, is then sent to the college of the recipient's choice. A plaque with the names of all the recipients is kept in the high school trophy case.

March of Dimes (www.marchofdimes.com)
The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. It carries out this mission through research, community services, advocacy, and education.

Robin Hood (www.robinhood.org)
By finding and funding the best organizations and programs to fight poverty and partnering with them, Robin Hood targets poverty in New York City. It relies on sophisticated evaluation methodology to calculate the success of its grant making and to invest donations judicially.

SoundWaters (www.soundwaters.org)
Founded in 1989, SoundWaters is the leading environmental organization on Long Island Sound. Programs are held at the SoundWaters Coastal Education Center in Cove Island Park in Stamford, Connecticut, on the SoundWaters, an 80 foot three-masted schooner; and at schools, community centers, and field sites throughout the region.

Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation (www.starlight.org)
A nonprofit organization dedicated to making a vast difference for seriously ill children and their families, Starlight Starbright touches their lives as they journey through a prolonged illness—from the time of the first diagnosis through the hospital stay to the return home and afterward.

Stamford Shelter for the Homeless (www.shelterforhomeless.org)
